Head Raptor 140 RS vs. Lange 130 RS

Postby Mikey B » Thu Mar 12, 2020 6:46 pm

Has anyone demoed or skied on both of these boots? Trying to decide between the 2. Any impressions appreciated.
Thx!

The biggest difference between the two boots is the amount of forward lean. The Heads have 16 degrees and the Langes have 12 degrees. The Langes are also about a half size larger than the Heads in the same mondo size.

There is no standard among the manufacturers for measuring and stating forward lean. Some use the angle formed at the rear of the upper cuff while others use the angle formed at the front of the cuff. I know that Head uses the rear of the upper cuff, but I'm not sure about Lange. Nordica uses the front of the upper cuff. I have a suspicion that Lange does it the same way as Nordica based on that quoted number of 12*. That would be extraordinarily upright if measured at the rear of the cuff.

Is anyone who has tried on both a current Head Raptor and a current Lange RS able to confirm that the Lange is much more upright?

I have skied them both. The Lange is significantly more upright... to the point that I cant ski any of their race boots without major surgery to increase the forward lean.
