I've been following Matej for a few seasons now. His skiing is good, but not always as good of an example of pure PMTS that you find with Schiffrin, Hirscher and some others... He often has a wide stance, rotates too much through the apex and doesn't flex as much as his faster (and possibly physically stronger) competition. I think he's still young though, so lots of potential.

Any comments about the inside arm "push down" - why it might or might not be useful?

We want the upper body to support what's happening below. So, when we tip we CB/CA and part of CB/CA is a strong inside arm/hand which is up and forward.

Yes, that would have been my understanding from a PMTS perspective - using the PMTS lens. I surmise that the "down push", whatever it might be called, could have some deleterious consequences ie ultimately represent poor technique.

We don't use the push down to support inclination in PMTS. We push forward and up. The push down we see by some racers isn't an advantage.

I knew something was not quite right with this skiing. That’s why I read this forum. Thank you

I always assumed the vertical inside arm was to prolong the lightweight tipping phase and thus crank up CB later in the turn, not for inclination purposes per se.

Not a fan of the technique, nor Vidovic's skiing, which strikes me as quite rough around the edges. Hip rotation which sometimes messes up his flexing/re lease, stance wide, vulnerable inside foot management.

A Nice guy though. Last May he was at the HintertuxHof Hotel along with a brief visit from Reilly and Paul.
