The default http link behavior according to the standards is to follow the link in the current tab. That is why the Forum software developers are against re-creating the old Forum behavior.
If you look at some other posts, the ones which do use the URL BBC tags are much more friendly and readable.
I've made a simple small modification so that the URL BBC marked up posts will be opening in the new browser tab. Please look at the editor screen when you are posting the message. It has the BBC codes markup buttons in the upper part of the window and one of the buttons says "URL" so please
start using it.
If you want to post a link which will be user friendly, push the "URL" button and the URL markup template will appear in your text.
Modify the opening "" text to look like " " and then insert your link description between the "" and "" BBC markers.
The final text should look like:
" Your_link_description_text"
Of course you can type the URL markup tags by hand if you'd like. You can open the older posts for edit if you are the author and change the link style if you wish.
Here is an example of the direct "lazy" cut&paste style link:

link which uses URL markup tags.
I will be moving this thread into the "Forum Feedback" section shortly.
Thanks.
