Hi all...
We had an instructors clinic today at Breck, and our top trainer (PSIA & Breck Staff) got into "modern skiing movements" vs "old movements".
Much to this trainer's credit, he's into modern skiing movements. This clinician pointed out a number of typical outside leg "moves" that are
not useful in modern skiing, and actually move a skier out of balance.
The clinic got amusing as the lower level trainees were beginning to understand and asked how to do the
wedge christie to pass an exam...
Don't push the outside (stance) foot, tip the inside foot...
This prompted an ISIA cert from Eastern Europe to ask me on our next (private) chair ride together...
Converging tips make no sense to turn.
Why do we even DO this "wedge christie"?
Similar to "stem christies" the Austrians used to do?
Things we teach and learn, then throw away to do parallel skiing?
I was diplomatic, but I was chewing my tongue all morning as if it was a tasty hunk of elk-jerky!
