I'm very curious who's coaching Dave Ryding and what his or her background is... he's textbook PMTS and keeping it together even when it's tough... that level of precision is not very common...
I don't know Ryding's coaches but his technique is excellent, he's more back on the skis then the fastest guys and he hits the edges hard, but technically he is excellent. He started skiing on plastic slopes in Scotland. I've skied on plastic it takes lots of edge hold to feel a good turn.
Check out Team Evolution—it is a crew of brits training a wide range of juniors, academy style. Interestingly they all ski similarly... some of the older kids, I think, have WC starts. I don’t know who coaches or runs the program but much of the skiing has strong pmts characteristics.
Discipline is the refining fire by which talent becomes ability.
