Up thread some commented that it would be good if the ski came in a longer length then 170cm.
When the video is stopped around the 29 second mark the sticker @ the tip of the ski reads 156,163,170, 177. The 163 is written in red the other numbers are written in black. The numbers most likely indicate the ski is 163 cm in length & is also available in 156,170, 177. Maybe the ski is made in 177 for the Japanese market if not most likely a mistake on the sticker ?

@ 19 seconds the back of the ski reads 163 129,66,107 on the sticker @ 29 sec sticker reads e head original 123,68,103 R11.1 Perhaps head makes a ski called e super shape original & a ski called super shape e original. If head is making 2 skis with almost the same name be careful you get the right ski

How does the eOriginal compare to the iSL? I am looking for something with good edge hold on ice, as i cannot get my old supershapes to provide that anymore.

It's a stiffer ski than the ISL non RD. Edge hold on ice is very strong.

I've heard conflicting opinions on this point. For example, I believe some of the PMTS instructors at Welch did not find the eOriginal to be as good on the typical ice and boilerplate they get in Minnesota.

I have been using a fairly new (only used about ~50 ski days) 160cm 2013 Supershape iOriginal but looking to get the new eOriginal since a good deal popped up. I have a few questions if you don't mind:

1. I'm 5'7, 135lbs, is 163cm or 156cm better for me? 156CM is almost impossible to find. Would 163cm be reasonable for my ability to learn?
2. Any opinion on the new Head/Tyrolia protector binding? It has heel release mechanism and 7mm travel on minor force, also heavier weight. I'm currently on DIN 7 setting. Will this design cause problem for learning good PMTS technique or create issue when carving?

I think either size sill work. My wife (5 6" and 125 lbs) is a good PMTS skier and went to the 156cm eOriginal from the 160cm old original SS and she thought it was too short. It does come down to preference and your PMTS skill level. For learning and working on movements, shorter is generally better but there are no hard and fast rules.

The Head Protector binding is considered solid by most that have skied it. If you want the added protection for your ACL and are willing to pay more $s for it, go for it. The PR Protector will go on Power Rail plates so its compatible with the eOriginals.

Thanks Jbotti for the feedback! My local shop is clearing out a pair of 22/23 e-original @163cm with protector binding for less than $600.

I'm thinking of snapping it up and use it in the future since my current SS only had 3 seasons of use.

Good idea?
