ski selection/length advice

Postby skidaddle » Sat Feb 17, 2007 9:51 am

I am 6'2" and 195 lbs, 51 yrs old, skiing my 5th season, ski all blues and groomed black comfortably. Learning PMTS and want a better tool for learning the technique. I have been on the Supershape at 165cm and didn't spend a lot of time on it because it felt too short. It hooked up and carved very well though. Current skis are the K2 5500 at 174cm and Head IM 75 at 170cm. After reading all the reviews I am looking primarily at two skis that I hope to get used.

Head Supershape 170
Fischer RX 8 at 170 or 175 (it looks like if I get this ski it may be better at 175 as it is less stiff)

I am open to suggestions.
Current Boot is Head RS 100 from H Harb. (thanks to Chris Brown)

Currently it looks like the RX8 is more available and less expensive.

OTOH,

Last week, Rich, Colin, Eric and I were riding up the lift at Sol Vista. Three intermediates, one instructor, from 5'10" to 6'4", all with Supershape 170's. Sharon said we looked like a Head commercial.
