Head Jr GS skis

Postby BigE » Wed Sep 12, 2007 12:58 pm

Need to know if the Head GS jr ski @ 160 cm would be appropriate for a 110 lb 11 yr old girl, 162 cm tall. She is an excellent racer, first year K1 (11-12 y.o. r>14). I know r>17 for every 160cm+ ski, but she is tall.

Would the Head be too stiff a ski?

Thanks in advance.

Head Jr GS skis

My son is 12 yrs. 110 lbs 5' (151) in K1 and uses a 141 SL nordica doberman & sometimes free skis with a 146 SL11 atomic. He's built like a tank, has legs like tree trunks and can bend the doberman's. But Coach says 160's too much for him.

Mind you he rails a old pair of Solomon 160 Foam skis, but they are still softer than the kids laminate skis. It's also interesting that he does not like to "ski" the foam skis and prefers the laminates even when in powder.

If you need a pair, level nine sports.com has a great price on 141 SL heads.

So did coach figure that out or just say not above the head? Does he say that for anyone whether or not they can actually ski?

Seems to me most coaches I've met spout length stats from charts and never take the kid's ability into consideration.

Are you considering not using the Nordicas that you had been planning on, or are you looking for something additional?
I Ski.

BigE, Im 190cm tall and I ski on 165cm SL skis. Women in the WC ski on 155cm SL skis. Modern skis are not really related to skiers length anymore. My son is 10 and tall for his age and he is on 135cm skis this year. Last year 143 was way too much. For your daughter I would not go any longer than 143cm. That will give her 4-6 years to grow into a pair of adult 155cm racing skis.
