Boots for narrow feet

Postby Jan » Sun Feb 05, 2006 5:15 am

What is your recommendation for "lateral non rotary" boots for narrow feet:

Head S10 (this was my first choice - but you mentioned that Head no longer did lasts for narrow feet)

Head S12 (any difference with S10 size wise given different liner?)

Nordica Doberman 110/130 (I read they were good for narrow feet, but is this a pure race boot or is it still ok for "varied" on piste skiing)

Rossignol?

Thks for your help, Jan

Head Ski boots

Postby Dave T » Mon Feb 06, 2006 10:15 am

I just bought a pair of Head S10. In checking these out it was clear that a chassis (device to narrow the boots was available if needed.) Note: the ladies S-10 boot is the same shell (different color) size with a chassis installed to allow for narrower feet. The ladies liner is different from the men's boot with a slightly lower cuff and different lining material.
The chassis device allows Head to fit narrow feet.

You really need to try them on. Good Luck

The last for the S12 and S10 is basically the same, difference is just in stiffness. The insertable chassis makes a big difference. Not only does it narrow the boot, but it makes it very easy to free up some space if it is too tight without needing to grind the boot.

I believe both are a 103 mm last that reduces to a 100mm last with the chassis in.
