Hi Harald,
Looks like an excellent cover, and terrific book. Like everyone else, I can't wait to read it, learn it, and DO IT.
I did notice something in that cover picture which is very helpful. On your jacket are two lines, some people might think they are pockets, but I think they are more like the lines etched on the canopy of fighter jets which give pilots reference points for things like the horizon. What look like zipper pulls are most likely what I would call a C-BAM. This acronym describes what those indicators do:
Counter-Balance Angle Monitors. You can see that the angle of the zipp...I mean C-BAM matches and is parallel to Harald's legs, while the pocke...I mean, the reference line on the jacket is parallel to his upper torso. By measuring the angle between the line and the C-BAM, we can see how much counterbalancing Harald is applying in this turn at this moment.
Now if we attached a GPS to these indicators, we could tell exactly how much counter-balancing is involved in each turn, and probably calculate the most fun way to get down the mountain.
You can also see two smaller similar devices, on the edges of the coat near the hips. These are not outrigger C-BAMs, but C-ANs, or
Counter-Action Notators which notate how much Counter-Action Harald is applying.
Now, if you read the book and heed the lessons in it, and get your C-BAMs and C-ANs adjusted correctly, you will have what Harald has on his face. Not the goggles, but a great big SMILE
I hope there's a chapter on adjusting these instruments properly.
